Davenport City Hall was built in 1927 in the Mediterranean Revival style by Streater Brothers Construction Company of Lakeland, Florida, at a cost of $15,054.00. The architectural firm Scroggs & Ewing of Augusta, Georgia, designed the building. When completed, it contained administrative offices, city commission chambers, the fire house, engine room, and jail. The second story consisted of an apartment that served as living quarters for the Police Chief and his family. The north end was originally the fire house and later became the Police Department. In 2002, the building became the home of the Davenport Historical Society.
