William A. Richardson was born in London in 1797 and died in Sausalito, California, in 1856. He was the first Captain of the Port of San Francisco and built the first structure on the first street, Calle de la Fundacion, in Yerba Buena, now Grant Ave., San Francisco, on June 25, 1835. He also founded Sausalito and Albion in Mendocino. His remains are believed to be reasonably near this location, now Mount Olivet.
