Table Rock State Park centers on Table Rock Mountain, a towering landmark at the edge of the Blue Ridge Escarpment known for its natural beauty. Within the mountain's watershed are more than 3,000 acres of primarily hardwood forests, cold-water streams, two lakes, and notable geologic features that provide habitat for a diversity of plant and animal species. The park offers rustic cabins, campsites, summer swimming, boating, fishing, picnicking, and challenging hiking trails. Construction began in 1935 by the Civilian Conservation Corps, and many park structures display the stonework and wooden architecture of that era. The park is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and is a South Carolina Heritage Trust Site. Its mission is to provide resource-based recreational and educational opportunities that emphasize conservation, protection, and interpretation of natural and cultural resources, while managing facilities in a manner consistent with preserving the park's natural, cultural, and geological features and their surroundings.
