Glendale Falls in Middlefield, Massachusetts, is a waterfall and open-space preserve owned and managed by the Trustees of Reservations. Fed by Glendale Brook, it is recognized as one of the longest waterfall runs in the state. Stone foundations of an eighteenth-century grist mill stand on the north side of the falls, tied to the vanished Glendale Farm. John Rhoads established that farm in the early 1770s, and its initial prosperity helped lead to construction of what is now Clark Wright Road, still the only car route to the falls. The farm later failed, and the preserve was created in 1964.
