The Sisters is a 10,178-foot summit in southern Nevada's Spring Mountains, about 30 miles northwest of Las Vegas, within the Spring Mountains National Recreation Area near the edge of the Mount Charleston Wilderness. Part of the Great Basin Ranges, it rises sharply above the surrounding landscape, most dramatically above Lee Canyon, where the peak gains about 2,000 feet in one mile. In this high Great Basin Desert setting, elevation creates cooler summer days, sharply colder nights, and bitter winter nights. Officially recognized by the U.S. Board on Geographic Names, the summit is reached by a roughly 6-mile round-trip hike and scramble via Macks Canyon Road.
