Lee Canyon
Nature
Lee Canyon is a ski resort in the Spring Mountains of southern Nevada, about thirty-five miles northwest of Las Vegas, where winter recreation on north-facing slopes began in the early nineteen thirties. The Las Vegas Ski Club operated a rope tow and warming hut there in the nineteen forties, and the modern ski area was established in 1964 after the U.S. Forest Service issued a special-use permit. A first chairlift opened in 1968 and the main lodge was completed in February 1970. With three hundred eighty-five skiable acres and eleven trails, it stands out as a lift-served winter sports destination close to the Las Vegas Valley.
