Metlako Falls is a punchbowl waterfall on Eagle Creek in Oregon’s Columbia River Gorge National Scenic Area and the furthest downstream of the creek’s major waterfalls. Commonly given as 31 meters, or 101 feet, high, it has been measured at roughly 30 to 46 meters. The falls also marks the upstream limit of salmon spawning in Eagle Creek, a connection reflected in its name. In 1915, a Mazamas committee named it after an Indigenous goddess of salmon. Access changed after a landslide in late 2016 destroyed the official viewpoint, and the 2017 Eagle Creek Fire opened some new views while leaving the cliff edge difficult and dangerous to reach.
