Punch Bowl Falls is a compact waterfall on Eagle Creek in Oregon’s Columbia River Gorge National Scenic Area, roughly 35 feet tall and 10 feet wide. It is best known for the rounded basin below the falls, where the creek passes through a narrow channel and drops into a large pool. That form gave the falls their name and also became the model for the term “punchbowl” waterfall. The falls are one of several on this Eagle Creek drainage leading to the Columbia River. A 2017 cliff collapse between Punch Bowl and Lower Punch Bowl Falls changed the stream’s flow, and a nearby wooden staircase and concrete fish ladder add unusual features to the site.
