Mount Oklahoma is a 13,852-foot peak in Colorado’s Sawatch Range of the Rocky Mountains, on the Continental Divide northeast of Independence Pass. Its summit marks the meeting point of the Mount Massive Wilderness in San Isabel National Forest and the Hunter-Fryingpan Wilderness in White River National Forest. Though it is not a fourteener, it ranks among Colorado’s notably high thirteeners. Its great elevation gives it an alpine subarctic climate, with cold, snowy winters, cool to warm summers, year-round precipitation, frequent summer thunderstorms, and a drier period in late spring. The mountain was named for the University of Oklahoma, and that name has been officially used since 1967.
