The Ravine Bluffs Development Bridge, also known as the Sylvan Road Bridge, stands at the northeastern entrance to Frank Lloyd Wright’s Ravine Bluffs Development in Glencoe, Illinois. Commissioned in 1915 by Wright’s attorney, Sherman Booth Jr., the development was planned as a unified residential ensemble of Booth’s house, five rental houses based on “A Fireproof House for $5000,” three poured-concrete sculptures, and the bridge spanning the ravine. Its significance lies both in that integrated design vision and in its rarity: only two bridges designed by Wright were ever built. Rebuilt in the 1980s, it remains a notable example of Wright’s work beyond houses.
