Milton J. Ferguson

Milton J. Ferguson, an attorney born in Wayne County in 1833, was colonel of the 167th VA Militia when war began in 1861. Captured in July, he formed a Confederate cavalry company upon release and became colonel of the 16th VA Cavalry. He was captured again in 1864, released, and returned to duty. After the war, Ferguson moved to Kentucky, where he served as a circuit judge until his death in 1881.
