Petersen Arboretum is a small botanical garden in Petersen Park in Alpine, Utah, within a Wasatch Range community southeast of Salt Lake City. Established before 2003, it was expanded that year with 150 additional trees. The arboretum contains about 50 types of trees, including Big Tooth and Amur maples, tri-colored oaks, and dawn redwoods. Its importance is local rather than regional, adding a curated collection of tree varieties to Alpine’s park system and complementing a city more widely associated with mountain scenery, streams, trails, and outdoor recreation.
