Jupiter Inlet Midden I is an ancient shell mound built by Indians known as Jeaga. It is the site of the village of Hobe, where the Dickinson shipwreck victims were held captive by the Jeaga Indians in 1696. A description of these Indians by Jonathan Dickinson was first published in 1699. The site was recorded in the National Register of Historic Places in 1979.
