Inspiration Peak is a 7,891-foot summit in the Picket Range of North Cascades National Park, standing between Mount Degenhardt and the McMillan Spires in one of the range’s most rugged areas. Its landscape is defined by glaciation, with remnants of Terror Glacier to the south and the McMillan Cirque glaciers on its north slopes, part of a terrain shaped over millions of years by uplift, faulting, and ice. First recorded climbed in 1940 by Fred Beckey and his brother Helmy via the West Ridge, it holds a place in the history of exploration in the difficult and remote Pickets. Heavy Pacific moisture and snowy winters give the mountain a hazardous maritime climate.
