With his wife Amanda and eleven children, Isaac Hudson Sr. first arrived in what would become the town of Hudson in 1877. His influence on the history of Pasco County was immeasurable. He provided space in his home for the county’s first post office, and one of his sons served as postmaster. He plotted the town site of Hudson on land owned by the family, and many present-day streets still bear the names of his wife and children, including Isaac Hudson Jr. (1870-1972), who served as county sheriff for two terms, and Joseph Byrd Hudson (1856-1950), who was elected as one of Pasco County’s original commissioners in 1887.
