Mount Grinnell stands in the Many Glacier region of Glacier National Park in Montana, just east of the Continental Divide. Rising between Swiftcurrent Glacier on the northwest and Grinnell Glacier on the south, it occupies a prominent place among the area’s best-known ice features. The mountain is named for George Bird Grinnell. Seen from the Many Glacier Hotel on Swiftcurrent Lake, its appearance is distinctive because its eastern arm, known as Grinnell Point, hides the main summit from view. That layered outline helps make it one of the most recognizable mountain forms in this dramatic part of the park.
