Butte Falls
Nature
Butte Falls is a fifteen-foot waterfall on Big Butte Creek near the town of Butte Falls in southern Oregon. Though modest in size, it is known for a broad cascade and a right-side run that sends whitewater kayakers into a large bowl below. The falls also shaped local settlement, since a water-driven sawmill once operated there and led to the founding of the town that took its name. It remains both a notable natural feature and an important part of the surrounding community’s origins.
