Prospect State Scenic Viewpoint is an Oregon state park on Route 62 south of Prospect along the Rogue River, centered on a compact cluster of waterfalls. Its main feature, Mill Creek Falls, is a 173-foot cascade on Mill Creek near its confluence with the Rogue and is regarded as one of Oregon’s tallest cascades. Nearby are Barr Creek Falls, which drops 240 feet in three stages, and Pearsony Falls. Trails also lead to the Avenue of the Giant Boulders, exposed after a hydroelectric dam built in the 1920s drained the narrow valley. Unstable, sediment-laden banks and frequent lightning-caused fires give the area its rugged, charred landscape.
