Hillside Home School II, on the Taliesin estate near Spring Green, Wisconsin, was designed by Frank Lloyd Wright in 1901 for his aunts Jane and Ellen C. Lloyd Jones as new classrooms for their nonsectarian, coeducational day and boarding school, which operated from 1887 to 1915. After the school closed, Wright bought the property and in 1932 adapted the building for the Taliesin Fellowship, adding a drafting room, dormitories, and a theater. Praised for its solid stone construction and wall batter, Hillside later became Wright’s main Wisconsin studio, where many major late projects were developed, and its theater reopened in 2024 after restoration.
