Moncove Lake State Park in Monroe County, near Union, surrounds the 144-acre Moncove Lake and was established in 1990 from land set aside within the Moncove Lake Wildlife Management Area. Expanded to 896 acres, it offers a quiet setting for fishing, boating, bird watching, hiking, camping, and swimming, with boat motors limited to 5 horsepower. Its location beneath the fall eastern hawk migration flyway also makes it a destination for raptor watchers. The park includes 48 campsites, some with electrical hookups, plus picnic and pool facilities, while hunting is reserved for the adjoining wildlife management area.
