Discovery Island Marine Provincial Park is a provincial protected area off Oak Bay on the coast of British Columbia, established in 1972 on land left to the province through Captain E.G. Beaumont’s will. The island had passed through a series of private owners after its first Crown sale in 1867 before Beaumont bought it in 1918. Accessible only by boat, it is especially popular with kayakers and offers broad views across the Strait of Juan de Fuca. Pandora Hill on the east side holds the island’s automated lighthouse and marks a turning point in the Canada–United States border. The park remains relatively undeveloped, with limited camping facilities and no campfires permitted.
