Fortune Peak is a 7,382-foot summit in Washington’s Wenatchee Mountains on the edge of the Alpine Lakes Wilderness, straddling Kittitas and Chelan counties. The second-highest point in the Teanaway area, it takes its unofficial name from Fortune Creek at its base, linking it to a local mining past that included the Queen of the Hills gold lode and the Ruby Mine’s antimony, copper, lead, silver, and by-product gold. The peak also divides runoff among the Cle Elum, Teanaway, and Wenatchee river systems. Its relatively dry east-of-Cascade setting rises from a landscape formed over millions of years by tectonic activity and repeated glaciation.
