Paine Art Center and Gardens in Oshkosh, Wisconsin, is a historic estate built around a Tudor Revival mansion and formal gardens on three acres. Commissioned in 1925 by Nathan and Jessie Kimberly Paine as a place combining architecture, art, furnishings, and natural beauty for education and culture, it was designed by Bryant Fleming. Construction began in 1927, but the Great Depression and the collapse of the Paine Lumber Company stopped work by 1932. After the Paines created a nonprofit in 1946, the estate was completed and opened in 1948. The Paines never lived there, and it became a public center for art, decorative collections, exhibitions, education, and horticulture.
