Tower of Babel is a prominent Entrada Sandstone summit in Arches National Park in eastern Utah, rising to 4,655 feet and distinguished by a dramatic near-vertical 500-foot tower above a landscape of eroded fins and monoliths. Runoff from the formation drains through Courthouse Wash toward the Colorado River, and its officially recognized name reflects its striking vertical form. The tower also holds a place in climbing history: Charlie Fowler, Eric Bjornstad, and Lin Ottinger made the first ascent on October 17, 1986, via the class 5.4 Zenyatta Entrada route, while another route, The Three Gargoyles, was first climbed by Jimmie Dunn and Joe Slansky and is rated class 5.11.
