Rifle Falls State Park is a compact Colorado park northeast of Rifle, built around a triple waterfall on East Rifle Creek where water drops about 70 feet over a travertine dam beneath limestone cliffs. Within its 48 acres, it combines striking scenery with abundant wildlife, including mule deer, elk, coyote, golden-mantled ground squirrels, trout, and bats that use the nearby caves. The park is especially accessible, with the main view only a short, nearly level walk from parking. A steeper one-mile loop climbs above the falls, passes several caves, and reaches a ledge behind the falling water.
