Constructed in 1768, Buckingham Friends Meeting House became the prototype for American Quaker meetings for nearly a century. Its symmetrical plan, with equal men's and women's meeting rooms, reflected the equality of the sexes within the Society of Friends, and the site possesses national significance in commemorating the history of the United States of America.
