Upper Falls Covered Bridge, also called the Downers Covered Bridge, spans the Black River on Upper Falls Road in western Weathersfield, Vermont. Built in 1840 by James Tasker of Claremont, New Hampshire, it uses the Town lattice truss and remains a substantial one-lane covered bridge, 120 feet long. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1973, it was completely reconstructed in 2008 after deteriorating. Its enclosed sides, square window openings, metal roof, and carefully built abutments reflect its practical design, while its Greek Revival portal gables, with horizontal boards, partial returns, and triangular moulding, give it unusual architectural distinction among Vermont covered bridges.
