Half Moon is a granite peak in Washington’s North Cascades, rising more than 7,960 feet in the Methow Mountains on Kangaroo Ridge near Washington Pass. Located in Okanogan–Wenatchee National Forest, it drains into Early Winters Creek and Cedar Creek, tributaries of the Methow River. The mountain lies within the Golden Horn batholith, and the surrounding landscape was formed over millions of years by tectonic activity, uplift, faulting, and repeated glaciation, which created steep ridges and deep U-shaped valleys. Its maritime-influenced climate brings substantial Pacific moisture, with heavy winter snowfall, avalanche danger, and generally clearer summer weather.
