Harry and Leone (“Mike”) Goulding came to the valley in 1924, began building a home here, and moved into this trading post in 1928. For more than 40 years they were traders and friends to the Navajos. They also hosted numerous artists, writers, archaeologists, anthropologists, and especially film director John Ford. The Goulding Collection commemorates the people and events in Monument Valley’s colorful history.
