Men from the city of Taunton volunteered for service on land and sea in defense of the nation’s honor during the war with Spain, the insurrection in the Philippines, and the Chinese Relief Expedition from 1898 to 1902. The memorial was erected by Henry A. Williams Camp No. 29, United Spanish War Veterans, and dedicated on October 10, 1937.
