Provincetown’s AIDS memorial honors lives lost to AIDS, the humanitarian achievements of caregivers who responded to the crisis, those still fighting to live, and the disease’s continuing impact in communities worldwide. Provincetown was a first responder to the crisis in this country, and in 1983 the Provincetown AIDS Support Group opened its doors to hundreds of people living with AIDS who came there seeking assistance and treatment, where they found open minds, big hearts, and an interest in their well being. Provincetown’s commitment to being a caring community continues today.
