Waynick Block
History
1
The first five buildings on the south side of Church Street were known as the Waynick Block, built around 1911 by R.J. Waynick. This building, occupied by Model Restaurant, was sold to Columbia Produce in 1926. Other occupants of the block at that time were Waynick Clothing and J.I. Harber Dry Goods. Snyder Cheese Factory opened in this building in 1936. Centerville's first pool room was located nearby. Next door to the west was the Rex Movie Theater and later Arnold's Watch Repair. The next known business in this building was Tiller's Hardware and Car Dealership, where Kaiser cars were featured in the windows. Tiller Furniture Company moved here in 1953 and the second floor was added in 1965. The Tiller family sold the building to Jane Herron in 2014 and Four Seasons Outdoors and Sports located here.
