The Ironville Fire Company was incorporated in 1944 and operated at this site until its merger with the Silver Spring Fire Company in 2000. A social hall and kitchen were built in 1953, and a three bay engine room was constructed in 1966. It was a volunteer fire company made up of local residents who provided most of its financial support through fund-raising events, including summer festivals and homemade chicken corn soup. Through their dedication, residents of West Hempfield Township received many years of outstanding fire protection service.
