Eagle Island State Park is a small public recreation area occupying all five acres of Eagle Island in Balch Passage, between McNeil and Anderson islands in south Puget Sound. About 750 feet off Anderson Island’s north shore, it is managed as a satellite of Jarrell Cove State Park. The island was named for Harry Eagle, a member of the Wilkes Expedition of 1841. The park remains oriented toward quiet, low-impact use, with a primitive trail through dense brush, short paths to a narrow mostly gravel beach, and a sandy point at the south end. Visitors come for picnicking, beachcombing, birdwatching, wildlife viewing, and boating.
