Pearl Mountain is a 13,379-foot summit in Colorado’s Elk Mountains, straddling Gunnison and Pitkin counties in the Maroon Bells–Snowmass Wilderness on national forest land. Near Pearl Pass and south of Aspen, it rises sharply above Middle Brush Creek and sends water north toward the Roaring Fork River and south toward the East River watershed. The mountain’s name has appeared in publications since at least 1884 and is officially recognized by the United States Board on Geographic Names. Classified as a thirteener, it ranks among Gunnison County’s highest peaks and has an alpine subarctic climate marked by snowy winters, short cool summers, and frequent summer thunderstorms.
