The Washington Post Office is the oldest continuous postal facility in Arkansas, having been established as Hempstead Courthouse Post Office in Arkansas Territory on February 23, 1820. This building, provided by the Pioneer Washington Foundation, Arkansas's oldest historic preservation group, was dedicated on May 29, 1988, by U.S. Senator David Pryor.
