His studio recording and live performance work was sought by top entertainers including Elvis Presley, Frank Sinatra, Ricky Nelson, John Denver, Roy Orbison, Ray Charles, Jerry Lee Lewis, and Merle Haggard. He began there at the Municipal Auditorium at age fourteen and later stood there at Elvis' side for untold performances.
