Rich Mountain Bald is a peak in North Carolina's High Country southeast of Zionville, rising to 5,361 feet. Also known as Bald of Rich Mountain and Big Bald of Rich, it stands within a landscape shaped by important watersheds. Streams descending its slopes flow into two river systems, reaching the South Fork New River through Meat Camp Creek and the Watauga River through Cove Creek. Nearby Rich Mountain Gap divides Rich Mountain Bald from Snake Mountain, helping define the local terrain.
