Company Street (Fireback Row)
Military
The enlisted men’s encampment consisted of 116 log huts arranged in a double row for almost a quarter mile along the company street. The only above-ground remains of those huts are piles of collapsed stone chimneys. Each stone pile of “fireback” marks the location of a 1778 log hut. The huts measured 12 by 16 feet, and each hut housed twelve soldiers.
