“Putnam’s Escape from Horseneck”
Military
Renowned local artist Anna Hyatt Huntington sculpted the bronze statue and was 94 when she completed it for its 1969 dedication. The bronze depicts General Israel Putnam’s legendary ride down the stone steps in Greenwich, then called Horseneck, where he narrowly escaped from British dragoons on a raiding party from New York City.
