Roaring Camp Covered Bridge was dedicated to the pioneer spirit of America, linking past, present, and future. It was designed in 1844 by Thomas Willis Pratt and constructed in 1969 by Roaring Camp & Big Trees Narrow Guage RR. It was the first Pratt-truss covered bridge built in California since 1896 and the shortest covered bridge in the United States. Its length is 36 feet and its load capacity is 5 tons. It was dedicated on Oct. 26, 1969, on the occasion of the 200th anniversary of the exploration of the Santa Cruz region by Don Gaspar de Portola in October 1769.
