The Rotary Club of Moon Township built and donated this shelter to Moon Parks and Recreation after recognizing a need for a community gathering place in the park where families and friends could meet and celebrate. Funds were raised, and the original shelter was built in the summer of 1965 and dedicated in 1967. In 1994, the Rotary Club of Moon Township doubled the size of the original shelter to create a larger meeting place for the community. The Rotary Club of Moon Township is one of thousands of Rotary Clubs worldwide, with more than one million members.
