Dome Mountain is a 12,455-foot peak in the Washakie Wilderness of Wyoming’s Shoshone National Forest, within the Washakie Range, one of the southern groups of the larger Absaroka Range. It is one of the dominant summits in this rugged, forested, wilderness-protected country. One account identifies it as the highest peak in the Washakie Range, while other background places it second to Washakie Needles, about 0.8 mile to the south, which is identified as the highest.
