Wabash College students served in the Civil War in a wide range of ranks, from major generals and brigadier generals through colonels, lieutenant colonels, majors, captains, lieutenants, chaplains, surgeons, and noncommissioned officers and privates, with the roll of honor naming hundreds of individuals including Lewis Wallace, Edward R. S. Canby, Joseph J. Reynolds, John C. Black, Charles Cruft, Smith S. Fry, John P. Hawkins, William H. Morgan, and many others.
