Local donations helped build Darlington Covered Bridge, an important transportation link. It was completed in 1868 and closed to vehicular traffic in 1976. Approximately 166 feet long, it has a Howe Truss design and was built of oak and poplar with limestone abutments. Richard M. Epperson was the construction superintendent, and Joseph Kress was the builder. It was listed in the National Register of Historic Places in 1990.
