Malibu Creek State Park preserves Malibu Creek canyon in the Santa Monica Mountains as a landscape shaped by ancient geology, long Native history, ranching, recreation, and filmmaking. Established in 1974 and opened in 1976, the park includes sites such as Malibu Lagoon, the Adamson House, Liberty Canyon, and the Sepúlveda Adobe. The area was inhabited by the Chumash for millennia, and archaeology has uncovered the village of Talepop. Later features included the Crags Country Club, Century Lake, and lands that became movie ranches and Ronald Reagan’s Yearling Row. Famous as a filming location for MASH and other productions, the park was also heavily burned in the 2018 Woolsey Fire.
