USGS Peak is an 11,982-foot mountain in Idaho’s Lost River Range within Salmon-Challis National Forest. It lies northeast of Mount McCaleb and southeast of Lost River Peak, its line parent. Ranking as Idaho’s eleventh-highest summit and the Lost River Range’s ninth-highest, it is notable mainly for its elevation and setting within one of the state’s most rugged mountain ranges. Its importance is geographic, as part of a concentration of some of Idaho’s loftiest peaks.
