Mount Peal is a 12,414-foot summit in Montana’s Beartooth Mountains, within the Absaroka-Beartooth Wilderness of Custer National Forest. Among the tallest peaks in the Beartooth range, it is the ninth-highest mountain in the state. It rises in a cluster of major high-country summits, with the nearest taller peak, Tempest Mountain, about 1 mile to the west-northwest. Its location in federally protected wilderness places it in one of Montana’s most rugged alpine landscapes, where it stands out chiefly for its elevation and prominence within the range.
