Callahan State Park is a 958-acre public recreation area in Framingham, Marlborough, and Southborough, Massachusetts, preserving a large expanse of open land in a densely settled region. It opened in 1970 with 435 acres and was named the next year for local newspaperman Raymond J. Callahan by the Massachusetts legislature. The park is widely used for hiking, mountain biking, cross-country skiing, horseback riding, and dog walking along about 7 miles of trails, including part of the Bay Circuit Trail. Its woods, wetlands, and Eagle Pond support varied New England wildlife, from deer, foxes, and coyotes to turtles, frogs, snakes, many birds, and fish.
