Robert W. "Red" Touchette, a USAF captain born August 31, 1931, was killed January 27, 1962, after sacrificing his life by diving his disabled F-86 jet into the Alabama River to avoid a populated area. He had flown 38 combat missions over Korea and was remembered as a true hero by his Marlborough High 1949 classmates on November 11, 2000.
